Transfer to Minneriya → Afternoon game drive at The Gathering → Return

Between July and October, Minneriya National Park hosts The Gathering – a wildlife spectacle unlike anything else in Asia, and arguably the most extraordinary elephant encounter available anywhere on earth. As the surrounding seasonal waterholes dry up, hundreds of wild Asian elephants converge on the shores of the ancient Minneriya Reservoir – grazing, swimming, playing, and socialising in concentrations that routinely exceed 200 and occasionally surpass 400 individuals in a single evening session. This afternoon tour arrives at the park in time for peak elephant activity around the reservoir as the light begins to soften toward sunset, providing photography conditions of exceptional quality.
